Most investigations are carried out in partnership with other providers, e.g. blood tests can be done at any laboratory of the patient’s choosing, and radiological tests performed at existing institutions.
Point of care ultrasound
We have now acquired a new ultrasound machine to perform point-of-care echography. The machine is a Siemens Acuson NX2 system, which can perform general ultrasound, including cardiac, abdomen, vascular, breast and musculoskeletal examinations. This has greatly enhanced diagnostic capabilities and patient management. Bedside procedures such as ultrasound-guided fluid tapping/draining are now possible and have been successfully performed already.
Electrocardiography
We have now acquired a portable electrocardiography (ECG) machine to complement our cardiac investigations. The machine is capable of producing reports on the go, which may help patients who cannot come to the consultation for whatever reason. As per our usual paperless protocol, all investigations are scanned on to the electronic records and the original report given back to the patient to keep in their personal file.
The future
We have plans to add other diagnostic services on site as we evolve, such as bone densitometry, portable ultrasound scanning, ambulatory monitoring, and spirometry.
